Nita Baum | Founder

Nita founded b*free in 2013 to reimagine how we view, value, narrate and embody wellbeing in our lives, work & culture. For Nita, this is soulwork. Her work across sectors as leader, coach and advisor to executives and teams at mission driven arts & culture organizations from The Laundromat Project to Kinfolk Foundation to media organizations Sesame Workshop (makers of Sesame St), Paramount Media and PRX, to venture philanthropy and impact incubators New Profit, Echoing Green and Maverick Collective to health equity leaders at PSI, FoodCorps, iCAN and more - made stark how the gaps and patterns that challenge us most are rooted in our wellbeing. Mind Body Story, The A.R.T. of Creating Wellbeing brings together insights and tools from over 2 decades of transdisciplinary visioning and creating. Nita founded 3 social innovation organizations in wellbeing, education and renewable energy and has been a coach, advisor, healer, facilitator, mediator, board chair, teacher and professor. She speaks on the topics of wellbeing, healing and leadership. Her own healing and wellbeing have been transformed by 2 nephews and a niece, being a caregiver to her 2 dying parents, travel, adventure and living in Japan. Nita is deeply grateful for the natural world, learning from wisdom teachers, playing music, friendship, courageous mentors, yoga, movement and time studying with the indigenous people of the Amazon. Nita has a BA in PreMedicine & Art History from Columbia University, MBA from George Washington University and is certified in mediation, nutrition, coaching, yoga, restorative justice & somatic trauma-healing.
